I'm a different person than I was 12 weeks ago. Not just smaller, but stronger inside and out.
My goals this challenge: 1. To Lose 12 lbs--Met!!!
2. To be able to do real push-ups (I can do 6!)

My initial goals for this challenge were to lose 10-15 more pounds, increase my lean muscle mass and fit comfortably in my size 8 jeans.
I am so pleased to have no only met all my goals but completely surpassed them! Since this challenged ended the day before my 32nd birthday, I wanted to have lost a cumulative 32 pounds by then (since starting FYM in June)- I have lost 36 pounds to date (1/5th of my starting weight!). What a wonderful birthday gift to myself!

I am so excited to be writing this essay! It's been 12 weeks since I started down the FYM path, and I haven't been perfect, but I have been consistent, and it has definitely paid off!
I was introduced to the FYM lifestyle when I saw the STC results of my friend, Iris. I had lost weight before (and gained it back), but I could see in Iris' pictures that she had not only lost weight, but she looked firm and fit. I thought I would ask her about it, and she was kind enough to share in depth about the program.
I spent about 3 weeks mulling it over… I was afraid of the change. I was eating almost all processed foods loaded with flour and sugar, and I didn't know how to eat any differently. But in the end, I jumped in and decided to commit 100%.
From there, everything changed for me! I cut out the flour and sugar cold turkey. I went through a few days of withdrawal: depression, headaches, and exhaustion; but I stuck with it, and after a few days I found myself already feeling so much healthier. I even started drinking green smoothies every day, which was a huge step for me. My kids looked at me like I had lost my mind! But I stuck with it, and I found that I was not only losing weight and feeling better, but my fingernails started growing and my skin was healthier.
The workouts were probably my biggest challenge. The first day I did the Introductory Workout A, there was a puddle of sweat on the floor underneath me. I just couldn't believe those simple little exercises could be so challenging! And I couldn't believe how little strength I actually had, considering I was fairly active and had been running 10 miles a week all summer. I stuck with those workouts, and began to slowly see my strength improve. There was great celebration the day I was able to hold a plank for a full 15 seconds!
I love the changes in my body. I'm not just dropping pounds (although I've lost just under 30 pounds!); I'm firming up. I feel stronger than ever.
I see definition in my arms and even starting in my belly. My clothes fit so much better. My face is thinner, my skin is healthier, and my smile is bigger.
My original goals and the results:
- To lose my belly fat which has never truly gone away since having my babies (youngest is already 6), because I worry about heart issues and diabetes as I get older.
I have lost a LOT of belly fat! I have a long way to go, but I am thrilled with my progress so far.
- To be able to buy clothes that fit me properly rather than clothes that fit my belly and hang off everywhere else.
I am currently comfortably wearing a pair of jeans that I couldn't even pull up past my bum when I started this challenge! I don't dread trying on clothes anymore. Again, I have a long way to go, but the success is motivating!
- To feel good about myself again.
I can't even begin to express how different I feel on the inside. I am proud of myself… not just because I've lost weight or inches, but because I've stuck with it, been consistent, and have become so much stronger.
The biggest difference maker…. consistency.
I have stuck with it and not let myself get derailed, even if I made some poor choices here and there. I have had discouraging days, and I have had moments where I wondered what in the world I was doing, but I was committed to this and I was going to see it through.
I think I should be a finalist because I have committed 100% to this challenge and made some amazing, life-altering changes.
I went from completely unhealthy eating habits to a clean, healthy diet… literally overnight. I do have amazing results, but it's more than that….I stuck with it -- the theme of this essay!
I am so proud of myself, no matter the outcome.
I'm not just losing weight, I'm not just exercising; I AM CHANGING. And I needed to change.
